Brandon Marsh Empty Brandon Marsh

Another good day weather wise, thanks again Barbara.
Disappointed I did not see the Kingfisher riding on the Otters back, or the hippo lazing in the pools! However a couple of photos of what I saw, I was going to photograph the cake but for the second time there was none left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I get chastised for uploading images, I've resized them and deleted the images from the Seven Valley Country Park

Brandon Marsh Empty Re Brandon Marsh

Sorry John you missed out on the cake again. I hope you are pleased with your pictures, the infra red is interesting.

On a more general note, I hope everyone enjoyed their visit to Brandon Marsh, and that you did manage to get some pictures. The kingfishers were rather elusive, but I hope you caught a glimpse of one. There were quite a few butterflies around even though they were a little too active to photograph. It was good to see a female Brimstone butterfly, as well as male and female Common Blue butterflies. The Guelder Rose berries were particularly attractive along with the profusion of Rowan berries. I think Brandon Marsh has a great deal of potential, perhaps at a different time of the year, say May or June.

I would be interested to know if on next year's programme anyone would be interested in returning to Brandon Marsh? Or, if any of you know of any places which you think would be of interest to the Natural History Group, please let me know and we'll see if it is feasible to organise a visit there.

Hope to see you on Thursday for the Jenny Hibert evening. Jenny is going to be one of the selectors for our Nature section of SPS International this year and from the message that Roger sent out, I think we are in for a treat on Thursday.

Kind regards

Barbara
